World Environment Day will be celebrated as “Turkey Environment Week” in Turkey with the Presidential circular starting from this year and covering the week in question. This year, the emphasis will be on sustainable, nature-friendly, cleaner and greener living. In the circular pointing out that environmental awareness is increasing day by day on the protection of the natural environment, creation of sustainable living environments and combating climate change in Turkey, it was stated that environmental problems and developments will be realized in this way in a more participatory and multi-stakeholder manner.
Turkey Environment Week is a very important message
Pointing out that one of the most important issues in terms of environmental protection is waste management, Zeki Sarıbekir emphasized that the ‘zero waste’ project should be embraced by all segments and kept on the public agenda. Zeki Sarıbekir stated that packaging has become an economic resource to the extent that it can be recycled, “Packaging is not an element that creates environmental pollution. As we recycle the packaging, we do not harm the environment and we can turn it into a very serious input in terms of economy. In this way, we can prevent the importation of waste, which has been on the agenda recently, and provide added value for the environment and economy from our own waste. However, for this, the recycling sector in our country needs to be further strengthened.”
The way to safe food is through the packaging
Drawing attention to June 7, World Food Safety Day, Zeki Sarıbekir said that the way to safe food is through safe packaging. Zeki Sarıbekir stated that the packaging plays a vital role in preserving the freshness of food and preventing its spoilage, he said, “The main danger here is the products that are sold in the open without any hygienic conditions. These products are risky for health and cause serious waste. Packaging, on the other hand, is in the process from production to the end user. “It provides full protection and ensures that the products are delivered to the place in the most hygienic and clean way. In this sense, it is very important to raise awareness of consumers. As long as we use packaged products and then include these packaging in recycling, the contribution to the environment and the country’s economy will increase.”
