As Polat Makina, the foundations of which were laid in 1978 in Aydın, you operate in many fields. You produce Supercritical Fluid Extraction Systems for cosmetics, skin care, and herbal products. Can you tell us about your extraction machines and your fields of activity in the cosmetics sector?
As you know, extracts play curial role among the natural activeingredients since they are more compatible with the skin and much more concentrated. Besides, it is the one of the best ways to produce natural cosmetics in a sustainable way. Supercritical CO2 is a revolutionary technique that makes it possible. In addition to this, it ensures the freshness of flavor, color & odor – as well as quality without showing toxicity. To sum up, with Polat

You use centrifuge and extraction technologies, whose history goes back almost 4000 years, in different areas from food to cosmetics. When did you decide to manufacture machinery suitable for the cosmetics industry?
Actually, this project started about 2 years ago. Our Supercritical Fluid Extraction Systems project managed to be among the top 10 projects supported in Turkey within the scope of the “Technology Oriented Industry Move” program carried out by the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Not only for the cosmetics industry but also for many industries supercritical fluid extraction system has lots of advantages compared to conventional processes since especially botanical ingredients sensitive to high temperatures and they can be extracted smoothly and selectively by using these systems.
You made quite a splash with your ‘Discover The Harmony’ commercial. In which countries do you play an active role with your machines? You are very active with your sales and service network that appeals to different sectors in the country. In which areas of the cosmetics industry do you aim to increase your activities?
As you mentioned our new branding campaign captures the awareness of the audience we want and attracts consumer attention. We are so happy to get an impact like this. The obtained extracts using supercritical fluid extraction can be used as the common cosmetic ingredients (thickeners, emollients, waxes, fragrances, and colorants).
Furthermore, it provides a high concentration of bioactive compounds in obtained extracts which includes many bioactivities in the cosmetic products acting as antioxidants, anti-ageing, photo-protective agents or providing antibacterial activity and inhibition of enzymes, such as tyrosinase, lipoxygenase, collagenase and hyaluronidase. Hence, I think our target cannot be restricted with a specific field.
What would you want to tell us about in your image video in your campaign?
Do you think you have captured the attention of your target audience with these commercials?
We argue that the transformation of the olive from huge olive trees into olive oil, which is a source of healing, transformation of water that we consider dirty into clean water that can be reused, and dewatered sludge containing valuable components that can be used in bioenergy production, the process of fruits and various foods go through until they reach our table, the extraction from the beautiful plants whose colors we love, in short, all this beauty that nature gives us has a harmony. You actively participate in international fairs. Could you tell us about your fair calendar and the future targets of Polat Makina?
Since the fairs are an integral part of our industry, we will continue to take part in these events at many fields. As you know, most of the fairs were cancelled due to the pandemic and as a result of this, people have missed participating in these events very much. With easing of the pandemic restrictions, we are expecting an intensive exhibition program and we are aiming to increasingly continue next year with different target countries.
Anything that would you like to highlight?
With our new branding image with the slogan “Discover the Harmony”, I strongly believe that we bring a different vision and perspective to the B2B marketing. Most of the B2B companies focus on their products or the solutions that they offer by demonstrating only their technologies or equipment. Due to this fact, they can miss to touch in human and natural life.
To catch this value, we explained the inspiration we received from nature with “Mother Nature” using art and metaphorical language. In our image video in our campaign, each movement of the ballerina reflects that Polat Makina is always moving forward. In addition, the separation processes of our machines are illustrated with this art. We believe that this new brand image will make an impact.
