Could you tell us about yourself and the origin story of Atelier Rebul?
“Gladly… After graduating from Üsküdar American Academy and Boğaziçi University, I started my career in one of the best players in the cosmetics industry, which I am passionate about. After working for a company strong enough to be called the school of cosmetics for 4 years, I couldn’t hold back my entrepreneurial spirit any longer. My dream from the very beginning; owning my own cosmetic brand. Just in those years, in 2004, our paths crossed and became partners with Rebul’s 4th Generation representative Kerim Müderrisoğlu and our family friend Korel Bingöl. On the first day we became partners, I had dreams about Rebul. I wanted to touch the retailing field, where we can be close to the consumer and tell our deep-rooted story and heritage, because Rebul’s deep-rooted heritage, pharmaceutical tradition, formulas in its archives and its fragrance expertise had so much to convey that we needed to provide a service area where we could touch every part of life with our specialty, fragrance. In 2013, with great happiness and excitement, we generated the Atelier Rebul brand as the exclusive retail brand of the Rebul Group of Companies. With Jean Cesar Reboul, the founder of Rebul pharmacy, we carry the French elegance that is ingrained in our genes into both our products and the store concept.”

You have a wide range of products. What about your product range?
“With our deep-rooted formulas and fragrance expertise, we stand by our customers with our products in the categories of perfume, cologne, candle, sticky room fragrance, bath & body care products and natural skin care. As a brand that has written the history of Turkish fragrance with its colognes and is at the forefront with its fragrance expertise, we make a difference in the cosmetics market with our natural skin care products, which we have developed thanks to our pharmaceutical background and secret formulas. We bring together beauty and health with scientific expertise. With each of our products and collections, we are a part of our customers’ lifestyles.”

When we talk about Turkish Culture, cologne is a must. So, what is the secret of a good cologne?
“Exactly, cologne has an important place in Turkish culture. The secret of a good cologne is definitely quality and trust. The quality of the cologne is determined by the quality of the essence and alcohol and the production process. As Atelier Rebul, we never forget our founder Jean Cesar Reboul’s statement that “Quality and trust are the most important legacy of the Rebul family ” and we make this our priority in all our products. We provide safe hygiene with the high quality 80° ethyl alcohol content in our colognes. In addition, we develop our colognes with various and top quality ingredients that we choose from all over the world (lavender from Grasse, jasmine from Italy, rose from Isparta, tangerine from Bodrum). Based on our timeless fragrance expertise, we select the safest ingredients to be good for your skin and soul. It is our biggest responsibility not to compromise on quality and trust. By choosing the right ingredients, making permanent and impressive scent choices is just as important as maintaining the same scent quality for 100 years. The scent and quality of our Lavender cologne has never changed since 1938. Our cologne, which was obtained in the laboratory under the pharmacy from the essential oils of the lavender grown in Mr. Reboul’s garden, is then produced with Lavender flowers, which are collected every year from the regions close to the city of Grasse in the south of France until dawn, destroying the heavy air of the factory with their scent. Since 1938, we have been applying that special magic formula and special production process to achieve the same scent standard. Our lavender cologne was also awarded a gold medal by the ‘International Beauty Products World Quality Control Center’.”
You have a special collection that uses 100% natural fragrances. How did you achieve this natural scent formation? Wasn’t it hard?
“Our vegan Pharmacy Collection, which we preserve like heritage and reflect the spirit of pharmacy, has the therapeutic effect of essential oils. Thanks to its 100% natural scent, it helps to reduce stress and sleep according to your needs. We are trying to provide the best for our customers as a result of our strong R&D, secret formulas that we protect like heritage and long researches. Our R&D vision is based on innovative, clean, sustainable, vegan and Cruelty Free formulas. We continue to work with clean room technology in all our production in our new factory. There are also scent experience rooms with special ventilation systems. We have generated all of these possibilities to achieve the most difficult.”

Rebul Lavanda Cologne, the unchanging scent of years, is described as a legend from generation to generation. Can you tell us the connection of this fragrance with Beyoğlu?
“The story of Rebul Lavanda Cologne, an iconic product of the Turkish people and a guest in our homes for a century, begins in 1938 in Pera, where Rebul Pharmacy is located. Rebul Lavanda is soon becoming the scent of Istanbul gentlemen, especially the men of Pera. Rather than cologne, Rebul Lavanda becomes more of a legacy passed down from father to son. So much so that it is passed down as a legend from generation to generation that Rebul’s lavender must be applied in order to wander around Beyoğlu. Rebul Lavanda Cologne has a very special place for us. It is a value that almost all of us know from the homes of our grandmothers and grandfathers, and that we now carry to the corner of our own homes. Because we know this very well, we reproduced the iconic bottle of Rebul Lavender Cologne and presented it to collectors in our 125th anniversary collection.”
“WE HAVE GREEN ENERGY CERTIFICATE”
What do you think about sustainable production as a company? Do you have any work on this subject?
“As a brand that travels between generations, we have a mission to leave a clean, livable world to future generations. We gather all of our sustainability efforts under the umbrella of ‘Thanks to the Planet’. We fulfill our responsibilities with our environmentally friendly production technologies and environmentally friendly products based on sustainability principles. Our new factory was built on this understanding. While continuing our environmentally friendly productions with the new generation technologies we use, we are within the target of zero carbon. As of May 1, 2021, we have a Green Energy Certificate in our factory, where we use 100% renewable energy. We sort our wastes at the source and recycle them as glass-plastic-paper. Within the scope of our sustainability efforts, the latest good news in our factory is; We have obtained the zero waste certificate. Clean formula has always been our focus since day one. We use raw materials obtained from natural products in our formulas. Within the framework of nature-friendly production, we do not use paraben, silicone, petroleum-derived raw materials in our formulas, and include clean, skin-friendly and environment-friendly raw materials.
With our eco-friendly product movement, we accept the 3Rs of beauty as “Refill/Reuse/Reduce” and say “refill, reuse, reduce waste, repeat”. For example, we have been continuing the refillable packaging project with the filling units available in our stores for 8 years. We give you the opportunity to refill your finished personalized colognes and Signature Collection perfumes in stores without throwing them away. Green Tea, Mandarin, Lemongrass & Honey, Verbena & Ginger liquid soaps, which come in refillable “Refill” packages, can also be refilled.
At the same time, we are continuing an afforestation project. We leave seed balls with drones in hard-to-reach areas that need to be afforested. In the final of the project, which we realized in cooperation with ecording, a social enterprise that develops sustainable and innovative environmental technologies against the global climate crisis, a total of 500,000 seed balls will meet with nature via ecoDrones.”
What are your thoughts about the MG International Fragrance Summit, which was held for the first time this year?
“This event, which brings together the local and global brands of the fragrance world, is very valuable and meaningful for us. We care about and support being involved in everything that will raise awareness in the fragrance world and strengthen their perspectives for a sustainable future.”
