Even though every person who has become conscious of being nature and environmentally friendly is not vegan, he uses vegan formula cleaning products produced completely naturally to respect himself and future generations. While researches conducted in recent years say that the number of vegans worldwide has reached 79 million, the size of the vegan product market is estimated to reach $22 billion by 2025.
“Animal rights, climate change and increasing health concern are the biggest reasons”
Zeynep Kahraman, Marketing Manager of Beyaz Kağıt, one of the largest cleaning materials manufacturers in Türkiye, stated that radical changes have been observed in consumer habits in recent years, and the interest in vegan products has increased very rapidly. Kahraman said, “The sensitivity of the society on animal rights, increased environmental awareness due to climate change, and finally our health, which we paid more attention to with the COVID-19 epidemic, increased the interest in vegan products. There has been a parallel increase in the number of cleaning products that are not tested on animals and do not contain chemicals such as paraben, SLES, phosphate. Since cleaning materials come in contact with the skin and are products that we use very frequently in our daily lives, they have become one of the product groups where the increase is rapid, as is the case with cosmetics and personal care products.”
“The performance of plant-based cleaning products is questioned”
Emphasizing that there is a low performance perception among the public against herbal cleaning products, Kahraman said, “Although they have more advantages than other products, there is a misconception that vegan products will not be effective enough in cleaning because they do not contain strong chemicals. Contrary to popular belief, their performance is not lower than other products. We have re-formulated our Vegan-certified Peros Soft Concentrated Softener series from the European Vegetarian Union, and we receive very good feedback from our consumers. When the well-known mistakes are corrected, the use of vegan products will increase even more.”
“Be careful when buying vegan products”
“The increasing interest in vegan cleaning products has brought about the emergence of a large product variety in this regard. However, not every product with the phrase vegan may be vegan. For a cleaning product to be truly vegan, it must have a vegan certificate from internationally recognized institutions. We recommend that you review the label when buying vegan products.”
Zeynep Kahraman said that as Beyaz Kağıt, Türkiye’s largest domestic cleaning products manufacturer, they care about nature and all living things in nature, and that they will continue to respond to different cleaning needs in all living spaces, from the kitchen to the bathroom, with the Peros and Asperox brands with a protective production approach. In addition to vegan certified products, Asperox and Peros brands also have products with 98% natural ingredients.
